Becca is slowly moving away from calling me “Dee”, though she has modified the plain “Dee” to “Dee-ka”, using the Thai particle appropriate for use by a female. In it place, she is starting to use “Dad”.

Very cute is when she uses the long reproachful version – “Daaaaad” – as though she were a sixteen-year-old and in some disastrous attempt to be cool, I said something like “Wow, groovy” in front of her friends.

I imagine I will be hearing that tone a lot as the years go by.

Benjamin is now beginning to form words.

“Dee” for Daddy, “Ca” for Becca, “Cheese”, “ปลา/plaa” for fish, Yes (sometimes, instead of the uual caveman grunt of affirmation, “อวก/uak” (throw up), “ขี้ /kee” (poop), “เยี้ยว / yiow” (pee), “จู๋ / joo” (penis).

And he seems to understand everything.

    Only 1y9m.

When he has poopies in his diapers, he’ll come and tell us by pointing at his bottom and waving his hand near his nose in a stinky motion.

This kid is smart as all get out. Still just as willful and cries in frustration when he doesn’t get his way. Sound like anyone else we know?

    Just love that boy!

Two days ago, Becca was annoyed by some scolding I had given her and she said “ไม่รักแล้ว” (I don’t love you anymore).

I know that kids say this kind of stuff and it doesn’t really mean anything. But the timing was unfortunate: I’ve been killing myself for the last two weeks to meet a bunch of work commitments. And for what? For the family, of course, primarily for Becca and Benjamin.

So I know this stuff doesn’t really mean anything. And I’ll probably hear it again, even more as she gets older.

But it pretty well crushed me.

Becca can now right-click and close items in the Windows taskbar.

Continue to be blown away by my little gal.
