I mean, sure, most of what you see on TV is crap, but until today, I had always taken that in a figurative sense only.

The likely suspect, of course, is Benjamin. Still, I can’t help but wonder whether someone changed the channel to Fox News and the crap just oozed out from the inside…

Last night, we were watching an old Simpsons episode in which their dog Santas Little Helper gets sick, the family makes sacrifices get afford the necessary operation, and their resentment leads the dog to leave. During the dog’s adventures, they play some classical background music which Becca jumped out and identified, “Listen, Daddy, Peter and the Wolf”.

    Man, that’s my girl!

Yesterday, Benjamin and I were in the bathroom and I was removing his diapers. I explained to him that when he feels like he needs to make a pee-pee, he should make it into the potty (for some time, he has been interested in the book “My First Potty”, though that book focuses more on poop than pee and we only have the girl version).

I asked him if he felt like making a pee-pee and he said yes, so I pointed his little pecker towards the potty and out came a solid stream, right on cue.

Probably all a coincidence of timing, but still, his first time using the potty and yet more evidence of progress in the potty area.

    Way to go, Benjamin!

Benjamin still seems to be a bit far away from using the potty. But one encouraging episode occurred this morning when he grabbed his (mysteriously semi-erect) honker and sprayed back-and-forth across the kitchen floor. A bit of manual control as a prelude to actually targetting the toilet/potty. Woo hoo!

Benjamin can now (well, a month or so already) say his own name. So cute, he says it as “Bem” with a final M and a long, rising tone.

He’s got the rest of the family nailed, too: “Hee” for Mommy, “Dee” for Daddy, “Ca” for Becca, Jang, Jame, K. Yaai, “Gul” for Michael, Pam, “Ma” for Grandma, “Pa” for Grandma.

    Way to go!
