When Becca says the word “watermelon”, she pronounces it very clearly, with special emphasis on the last syllable, stretching it out into a somewhat long-vowel sound, something like “Water meh LOHN”.
Just melts my heart…

When Becca and I recite fruit or vegetables or colors or words that begin some given letter or some other collection of related items, sometimes she’ll get stuck and I’ll try to help by filling in an example.
Becca no longer stands for it, telling me: “Daddy, Daddy, …stop talking.”
What a cutie!
Becca is now learning to play divide and conquer.
Say she wants item X like candy or something. She will run the cascade, looking for the answer she wants. If I say no, then Mommy is next on the list.
Sometimes, she will take it to the next level: when I refuse, she claims “Mommy said”, which usually turns out to be false. Gotta correct that behavior.
Still, pretty cute that she’s trying to work all the angles.
One of my Facebook friends from high-school (back in the late 1800’s, it feels like) asked a question that we Phuket residents often get, so figured best to post an entry on the subject.
How do you pronounce ‘Phuket’?
Quick answer: ‘POO-ket’
