For reasons that are not quite clear to me, Benjamin has taken to counting syllables in words and phrases. He’s great at it, gotta give that.

So, Benjamin is looking at YouTube videos and he says, “Daddy, some day, I want to go see an tock tick.”

I don’t quite make out what he is saying. “A what? A tock tick?”

“No, an tock tick. And penguins, ” Benjamin explains patiently.

Desperately scrambling for what he could possibly be thinking, I come up empty. “Benjamin, I have no idea what you are talking about,” I confess.

Now irritated at my stupidity, Benjamin petulantly replies, as if dealing with an idiot child, “You know. Penguins. In the Antarctic.”

I’m pleased with his ambition. Now I just got to get that kid some diction lessons. And a smarter Daddy.

Daddy: “… then we’re going to take you to the dentist.”
    Becca: “Today?”
    Daddy: “Not today.”
    Becca: “Tomorrow?”
    Daddy: “Not tomorrow.”
    Becca: “Tomorrow tomorrow?”
    Daddy: <smiles>

    Love that gal!

Last night after Becca finished her bowl of spaghetti, she asked for some more. As I left to get it, she called out, “Not a lot, just a smidge.”

Where did she pick up that word? Just love that little gal. ;-)

Benjamin doesn’t quite get verb conjugation. When reminded of something that he seems to have neglected, he often responds “Oh, sorry. I forget it.”

    Very cute, but GYHTBT.

Today, Becca and I were playing with a broken hula hoop and making letters with them.

“Wow, so many letters we can make. I guess I am the Letterman”, I observed.

“I want to be Letterman”, Becca replied.

“You’re a girl. So, you could be Lettergirl”, I corrected.

To which Becca replied, “I’ll be Letterperson.”

    That’s my girl!
